Men's Sheds of WA is the heartbeat of a men's health movement that's changing lives across the State. We connect, support, and champion more than 180 Men's Sheds and Community Sheds; creating safe, welcoming spaces where men find purpose, mateship, and a sense of belonging.
We're looking for a creative, people-focused, and self-driven team member to join our passionate team.
We are seeking a knowledge expert to help us meet our following strategic priorities:
• Expand the reach of the Men's Sheds network.
• Improve the longer-term viability of Men's Sheds of WA and WA's Sheds.
• Inform and influence decision-makers.
• Promote diversity and inclusiveness of WA sheds.
• Better demonstrate the value and community impact of Sheds in WA.
We are looking for someone to manage all aspects of our communications (listed below) to ensure that we are effective in meeting our strategic goals.
Key responsibilities
Website. Continue to develop and improve our website to facilitate successful engagement with our members, stakeholders and the public.
E-newsletter. Produce a regular enewsletter that provides our members with relevant information to help their management committees with the ongoing operations of their Sheds.
Magazine. Develop our Sheds WA magazine to engage a wider audience and promote the benefits of Men's Sheds and the community impact that they create.
Events support. Help organise and promote member events, including our biennial Conference.
Reporting. Lead on the production of our annual impact report/ Work with our team to collect and tell impactful stories from our small grants program.
Social media coordination. Collaborate with our team to create visually engaging and high-quality content for our social media platforms. Monitor and manage all social media platforms.
Media. Manage all ongoing media opportunities, campaigns and contacts.
Board / Stakeholder management: Support the CEO, President and Board - including organising/ supporting bi-monthly Board Meetings. Supporting the CEO and President in key stakeholder engagement (Ministerial / Government liaison and communications).
Administrative. Undertake additional administrative tasks as required – we are a relatively small team, so we all help out where we can, including managing incoming communications and requests.
Selection criteria
Applicants need to show demonstrated experience or knowledge of the Essential Criteria and where possible supported by the Desirable Criteria:
Essential
• Relevant experience in communications and marketing..
• Excellent communication skills across various media.
• Ability to plan, drive and deliver communication/marketing outcomes.
• Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Keen collaborator and team player – can create strong relationships and networks.
Desirable
• Photo/ video editing, Adobe suite of programs, Microsoft 365 suite, general interest and comfort around software.
• Wordpress website management.
• Experience in organising events
• A passion for improving men's health in WA.
