About the role:We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Camera Operator/Editor to join our team. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Senior Camera Operator/Editor will lead and mentor the Canberra Newsroom's team of camera operators/editors, fostering the development of skills and ensuring the team remains adaptable to the latest camera and editing technologies. The role will also be responsible for shooting and editing high-quality news stories and updates.

Working in a regional newsroom is an opportunity like no other - it is truly a rewarding experience where you will get to shoot all rounds of news. In areas such as the environment, sport, politics, you name it - you have the control to make a difference within the community. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, based at our Canberra office.

About you:To be the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Camera Operator/Editor within a fast-paced news environment
  • Experience shooting interviews, sport and community activities
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate and support a team
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior camera operators and editors
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to share knowledge effectively
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies, equipment, and industry trends
  • A high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate productively in a team environment, contributing positively to our operation and to working relationships
  • Ability to contribute ideas, and to demonstrate initiative and flexibility
  • Positive work ethic, with ability and willingness to learn new systems and
  • High level of creativity with the flair to 'see' a news story
  • Unrestricted drivers licence essential
