The Team:
Home Care South is a dynamic and client-focused team within the Department of Health (Tasmania), dedicated to delivering high-quality in-home support services across Southern Tasmania. Our primary mission is to support frail older people and younger people with disabilities to remain safely and independently in their homes and communities, in line with the Charter of Aged Care Rights and the Aged Care Quality Standards. The Role:
As the Administrative Assistant – Home Maintenance, you will play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of essential services. Working closely with the Service Support Officer, you will:
- Assist in managing referrals and bookings for basic home maintenance and minor modifications.
- Maintain accurate client records and prepare reports, correspondence, and meeting documentation.
- Coordinate staff rosters to ensure continuity of service delivery.
- Monitor equipment, report defects, and schedule repairs.
- Support data entry and administrative processes for the Home Maintenance program.
- Contribute to safety and quality initiatives, including child safeguarding practices and WHS compliance.
You will need:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Strong organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in providing administrative support within a service delivery environment.
- Proficiency in office systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, iPM, and Finance 1.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with staff and clients.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Sound judgment, initiative, and discretion in a team setting.
You'll also be expected to uphold the Department of Health's values and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace that supports vulnerable people and promotes child safety.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withPublic Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
