About The Role
The City of Melbourne is seeking a strategic and accomplished leader to drive and contribute to a refreshed direction of a complex, diverse and high-value asset portfolio, currently valued at approximately $4.1 billion. This sizable portfolio spans a broad range of asset classes, with a strong emphasis on property and plays a critical role in delivering both community and commercial outcomes.

This key executive position sits within the Infrastructure and Amenity divisional business unit and works collaboratively across the organisation. Through effective asset planning, you will be responsible for renovation, transformation, sustainable development, and strategic investment of City of Melbourne's assets.

The role sits in a unique position where it will lead cross-sector collaboration with government, industry, and community stakeholders to ensure Council's assets are safe, accessible, environmentally sustainable, and delivering long-term value. Crystallising your focus on property, this role is central to driving innovation and impact across the city's-built environment.

About You
Reporting directly to the General Manager, Infrastructure and Amenity, you will bring extensive experience in property management, with a strong focus on asset and facilities management. Your solid understanding of commercial environments will enable you to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and deliver value-driven sustainable outcomes. Ideally, you are hands on people focused leader with a proven background in Property and Assets and team development.

You will balance strong interpersonal skills with commercial acumen, bringing both structure and energy to your team. A confident and collaborative leader, you are skilled at influencing across all levels of staff and providing strategic advice to Executive teams. You are enthusiastic about creating sustainable, functional, and future-ready urban spaces and ready to lead with purpose.

You will also bring

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under-performance.
  • Substantial experience in property management and strategy, preferably within a complex organisation, with a comprehensive understanding of property management principles.
  • Proven experience leading or delivering strategic and complex property development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and maintain business plans and associated budgetary and financial management requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale service contracts and tendering processes.
