A DAY IN THE LIFE
The HSEQ Coordinator plays a hands-on role in ensuring that ECT2's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) systems are implemented effectively across our Australian operations. This role focuses on integrating with and supporting our field teams to apply existing systems, maintaining accreditation standards (including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and the OFSC Accreditation Scheme), ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping, and helping maintain a strong safety culture through visible leadership and proactive compliance activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support our field and operations teams in the day-to-day application of HSEQ systems and procedures.
- Provide effective training to staff to ensure comprehension of HSEQ program elements and to ensure proper execution of this program in the field.
- Maintain our HSE Software platform/s.
- Maintain and monitor ECT2's Integrated Management System (IMS) to meet ISO and Scheme accreditation requirements.
- Ensure project and task level risk assessments (e.g. SWMS, JHAs) are developed, reviewed, and applied effectively in the field.
- Coordinate and execute internal audits, facilitate external audits, and close out actions in a timely manner.
- Assist with the development, capture, organisation and storage of HSEQ documentation and records (e.g. inductions, inspections, incident reports, site meetings).
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and flag any required updates to procedures or practices.
- Participate in site inspections, safety observations, and pre-start meetings with field teams to reinforce key safety and compliance messages.
- Coordinate incident response and investigation activities.
- Coordinate training records, including inductions and refresher courses. Maintain the AU component of the Learning Management System.
- Monitor and evaluate subcontractor HSEQ performance.
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture through presence in the field and responsiveness to frontline feedback.
- Coordinate monthly and quarterly HSEQ performance reporting.
YOUR EXPERTISE & SKILLS
- 3–5 years' experience in a HSEQ or WHS Advisor/Coordinator role, ideally in construction, water treatment, or environmental services.
- Minimum Diploma of Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and the OFSC WHS Accreditation Scheme requirements.
- Comfortable engaging with operational teams in field-based environments (regional travel 10-20%).
- Proven experience supporting or coordinating internal audits and compliance inspections.
- Sound understanding of relevant Australian WHS laws, regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- High-level proficiency in the MS Office suite and experience with HSEQ platforms or document management systems.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to task follow through.
- Be able to attain a Baseline security clearance, existing security clearance highly desirable.
- Hold a current Australian Driver's license.
