ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Web and Digital Platforms Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising our websites and digital platforms to ensure seamless user experiences, enhanced functionality, and robust performance. This role is vital to supporting the organisation's digital presence and strategic goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Website Development and Maintenance:
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive and accessible websites that align with the union's brand and objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption.
- Implement best practices in coding, security, and performance optimisation.
2. Digital Platforms Management:
- Manage and update digital platforms, including content management systems (CMS), intranets, and other web-based tools.
- Integrate third-party tools, Pixels, APIs, and plugins to enhance functionality.
- Ensure all digital platforms are mobile-friendly and optimised for user experience.
3. Digital Strategy & Campaign Execution:
- Work closely with the communications and marketing teams to implement digital strategies that support organisational goals.
- Use digital platforms to enhance outreach, engagement, and audience growth.
- Ensure a data-driven approach to digital strategies, leveraging analytics and insights to optimise performance.
4. Campaign Strategy Using Digital Platforms:
- Develop and implement digital solutions to support integrated campaigns, including microsites, landing pages, interactive content, and email marketing.
- Collaborate with content teams to ensure digital assets align with campaign messaging and branding.
- Utilise digital tools such as SEO, email marketing, and social media integrations to maximise campaign impact.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of digital campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for future improvements.
5. Contribute to Campaigns:
- Collaborate across the Communications and Digital portfolio to develop and maintain digital assets that support integrated campaigns.
- Create landing pages, microsites, email templates, and other digital elements that enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Assist to develop, implement, and manage paid search campaigns (Google Ads, Bing Ads) and paid social media campaigns (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Ensure campaign content is optimised for engagement and aligns with the union's messaging.
- Monitor and report on the performance of campaign-related digital assets, providing insights for future optimisation.
6. SEO and Analytics:
- Implement search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies to improve website rankings and visibility.
- Monitor website performance and user behaviour using tools like Google Analytics, providing insights and recommendations.
7. User Experience (UX) and Interface (UI) Design:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces.
- Conduct user testing and apply feedback to improve navigation and usability.
- Promote and support the portfolio in the adoption of UX/UI principles to improve user experiences and the uptake of best practice.
- Gather and analyse user feedback to inform iterative design improvements, ensuring an engaging and seamless user experience.
8. Internal Communications:
- Contribute to as directed, the creation and delivery of internal communications, ensuring employees are kept informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational objectives.
9. Technical Support and Training:
- Provide technical support to internal teams, addressing queries related to websites and digital platforms.
- Support staff on digital tools as needed.
10. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all digital platforms comply with data protection regulations, accessibility standards, and internal policies.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and standards to ensure the union remains ahead of trends.
Collaboration, Stakeholder Engagement & Active Team Member:
Work closely with the Communications & Digital portfolio to deliver integrated digital solutions.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on best practices.
- Liaise with external vendors or freelancers, as needed, for specialised production.
- Cover other roles of the Brand, Marketing and Retention team as necessary due to leave, assignment or other operational necessities.
12. Growth & Retention:
- Contribute to content strategies and campaigns that drive audience growth, engagement, and retention.
- Implement tactics to nurture and expand digital communities, fostering long-term member engagement.
- Analyse audience behaviours and preferences to tailor content that enhances the audience and member experience.
13. Brand & Reputation Management:
- Ensure content reflects and enhances the UWU's brand identity and values.
- Monitor online sentiment and engage with audiences to maintain a positive brand image.
- Support crisis communications and reputation management efforts through timely, accurate, and thoughtful content.
14. Trend Analysis & Innovation:
- Stay up-to-date with digital trends, tools, and platforms to innovate content strategies.
- Experiment with new content formats to engage and grow audiences.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
A Web & Digital Platforms Advisor demonstrates:Experience:
- Proven experience in web development, digital platform management, or a similar role.
- Portfolio of previous projects showcasing technical skills and creativity.
- Proven experience working individually and collaboratively as part of a team.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in front-end and back-end web development languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, or Python.
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
- Experience with HubSpot CRM will be highly regarded, particularly in the context of end-to-end integration. Ideally, you will bring expertise as a HubSpot Developer, including the ability to build webpages within the HubSpot CMS to ensure seamless integration, a simplified user journey, and full utilisation of the platform's capabilities.
- Familiarity with database management (e.g., MySQL) and version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Knowledge of SEO principles, web analytics tools, and UX/UI design best practices.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining tracking pixels (e.g., Meta, TikTok) and configuring custom events in platforms such as Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Creative mindset with a detail-oriented approach.
- Commitment to and understanding of UWU's values and priorities.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:
- Right of Entry Permits; and
- Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption
REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:
- Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience (indicative level $102,326)
- 16% superannuation
- 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
