About the Position
We are looking to welcome an In-home Therapy Assistant to work within a team to provide practical support and intervention based on therapeutic strategies with families and children in the broader Carins community. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of children and families.
- Level 4 SCHCADS Award.
- Salary range: $88,100 - $94,792 + Superannuation.
- Full-time, Government funded until 29 May 2026 with possible extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within a team to provide practical support and intervention based on therapeutic strategies with families, children and young people with complex trauma in the home or broader community setting.
- Receive clinical guidance around intervention to best meet needs of the individual package.
- Use a trauma-informed approach to support children and young people and their ecological networks to achieve better outcomes.
- Support the application of relevant assessments and gather information for assessment purposes.
- Providing intervention as identified in the case plan including therapeutic intervention where trained and qualified.
About You
- Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (social work, human services, allied health).
- Professional registration (if required).
- Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
- At least three (3) years' experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect.
- Knowledge and understanding of the impacts of trauma on child development and family functioning.
- Skills and knowledge in parenting programs and direct implementation of these within the family home.
- Knowledge in intervention around family functioning, attachment, parenting and parenting capacity.
- Knowledge of Queensland child protection system, legislation and policy reforms.
- Sound cultural capability and experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Other Requirements
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
- Current driver's licence.
- Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
