Site Reliability Engineer (NV1 Clearance Required)

Contract | 9 Months | Possible Extension

Location: Canberra, ACT

We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with an active NV1 security clearance to join my clients team on an initial 9-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a hands-on role supporting critical Defence and Government systems, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability across complex ICT environments within a Security Operations Team

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration (Linux & Windows): Build, configure, patch, and maintain Red Hat Linux and Windows Server environments, including networking, firewalls, and application deployments.

Virtualization & Infrastructure Management: Administer VMware vSphere, vRA, vROPs, and vLI environments; deploy/manage VMs, blueprints, and infrastructure across VDC S and P.

Tooling & Automation: Manage Ansible Tower, Red Hat repositories, and Citrix Load Balancers; develop automation playbooks and maintain mirrored repositories to optimise performance.

Application & Data Services: Deploy and support the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), manage ELK stack for logging/analytics, oversee application packaging, whitelisting, and database administration.

Security, Documentation & Support: Administer secure data transfer tools (Stroom Proxy, diode infrastructure), maintain SOPs and documentation, and provide operational support for data analytics and change processes.

What You'll Bring

VMware & Virtualization Expertise: Proficiency with VMware technologies such as vSphere, vRealize Automation, Orchestrator, Log Insight, Operations Manager, and NSX.

Scripting & Automation: Strong skills in Python, PowerShell, and Ansible for task automation and operational efficiency.

Systems Administration: Expertise in Linux and Windows environments, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Infrastructure & Access Management: Experience with NetApp administration, Active Directory, access control configuration, and virtual environment resource management.

Security Clearance: Current NV1 clearance is mandatory.
