About the role

Are you ready to lead and make an impact?

As the Information Management Specialist, you will play a central role in shaping how Council manages and protects vital information. Reporting to the Information Management Stream Leader, you will oversee the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and supporting smooth, efficient operations.

You will lead the Records Team, drive operational excellence, and deliver projects that improve information management practices across the organisation. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same—an opportunity to bring your expertise and make a real difference in how Council works.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team, bringing expertise in Information and Records Management Frameworks, including the Public Records Act 2023, and hands-on experience administering Electronic Document Records Management Systems (EDRMS).

In this role, your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and project management experience will be key to driving success. Experience coordinating Right to Information and Information Privacy requests, and applying retention and disposal schedules, is highly valued.

You will lead our Records Team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. Tertiary qualifications in Records Management or a related discipline—or extensive relevant experience—are required. A general understanding of local government and experience leading significant records management projects is desirable.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and process Right to Information and Information Privacy requests efficiently and accurately.
  • Apply knowledge of the Public Records Act 2023, Right to Information Act 2009, and Information Privacy Act 2009 to support compliance across the organisation.
  • Maintain and manage records in line with Records Management Frameworks, retention and disposal schedules, policies, and procedures.
  • Administer the Electronic Document Records Management System, including system settings, access, and security.
  • Use Microsoft 365 and Council's information management systems to support records and information management tasks, and quickly learn new tools as needed.
  • Follow Council's standard work practices and procedures while exercising initiative and sound judgment in day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of work methods where procedures are not fully defined.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of work area budgets.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating moderately complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to standard.
