JS Careers is assisting an international investment bank in their search to appoint an experienced Operational Risk professional on an 18 month contract. The role will have coverage of their Investment Banking and Equities business.

They are looking for someone with 6+ years experience performing Risk & Control Self Assessments, ideally over a financial markets and institutional business.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Managing all aspects of RCSA process for the investment banking and equities business;
  • Providing advice and guidance to the business to ensure they are managing their operational risks effectively.
  • Ensuring that the business is aware of its obligations and has evaluated their broader compliance risk including AML;
  • Ensuring adequate controls are in place to manage operational risks, with oversight of risk assurance activities;
  • Identify and provide guidance and advice to the business on continual improvement opportunities for operational risk policies, procedures and processes;
  • Work with the compliance function to ensure that the impact of regulatory and legal obligations on the business are included in the risk management framework;
  • Ensure regular engagement occurs with key business stakeholders in the business to ensure ongoing awareness of non-financial risks to the business, with training plans put in place where necessary.

Suitable candidates must have :

  • Ideally, you will have proven experience (6+ years) within operational risk management, other risk disciplines, or audit, preferably gained within a financial markets or institutional banking environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, accounting or other discipline;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills;
  • An ability to communicate complex messages to a broad range of business stakeholders.
