Are you an experienced Waitlist Support Officer, or do you have a background in hospital admissions and are ready to take the next step in your career? This is your opportunity to grow into a pivotal role within a high-functioning and supportive team at Belmont Hospital.

Why join us at Belmont Hospital?

Nestled near the shores of Lake Macquarie, Belmont Hospital offers a welcoming and modern healthcare environment. We provide a range of inpatient and outpatient acute and sub-acute health care services to our diverse community.

The Waitlist Support Officer will be based in our light-filled, open-plan admissions department, working closely with a tight-knit team made up of another Waitlist Support Officer and a Waitlist Co-ordinator. Our team is community-focused, genuinely supportive, and motivated by a shared commitment to quality patient outcomes.

We pride ourselves on our approachable culture, strong team values, and a workplace that fosters continuous learning and improvement.

About the role

As the Waitlist Support Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting the efficient scheduling of elective surgeries and ensuring patient care remains at the centre of all we do.

A typical week will see you:

  • Coordinating theatre dates for elective surgery patients
  • Managing short-notice cancellations and filling vacant slots efficiently
  • Communicating with surgeons and patients to arrange appropriate surgery dates
  • Supporting the Waitlist Co-ordinator and collaborating with the wider admissions team

What we offer:

  • Thorough onsite induction and team mentoring
  • Offsite training in patient management systems and scheduling tools
  • A stable role in a collaborative team that celebrates reliability, initiative, and mutual support
  • If you're ready to use your organisational and interpersonal skills in a role that directly contributes to improving patient outcomes, this position could be the perfect fit.

About you

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have previous experience in waitlist management or hospital admissions
  • Are reliable, honest, and hardworking
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and clinicians
  • Adapt easily to changing workloads and shifting priorities
  • Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • While experience in a hospital setting is essential, we'll support your success in this role with hands-on training and ongoing mentoring.

If you're looking to advance your career in healthcare administration and become part of a supportive and values-driven team, we'd love to hear from you.
