The Opportunity

We are seeking a Chef to join our Patient Catering team at Southern Highlands Private Hospital. This role offers the chance to assist with food preparation for patients, staff, the cafeteria, and special events. You will ensure a high standard of quality hospital food production and cleanliness is maintained to be in line with the Food Safety Plan, relevant HACCP standards and Hospital policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cold Larder Preparation and handling of food
• Preparation & Cooking of meals
• Understanding of patient dietary requirements
• Ensuring a clean environment is maintained
• Wash & clean downs of equipment
• Daily completion of food and safety log sheets
• Compliance with food safety & HACCP
• Ordering of food & supplies
• Stock rotation

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Certificate in Commercial Cooking
• Minimum 12 months experience as a Chef
• Ability to cater to a wide variety of sensitive dietary requirements
• Must have a thorough understanding of allergy management practices
• Excellent work ethic, customer service skills, time management skills and the ability to successfully work in a team environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse workplace
• Previous healthcare setting experience will be highly regarded.
