HOW is EVERYONE Feeling Out There ????

Yes I know Power Bills and Mortgage Rates are STILL a bit Crazy, hmm ……anyhow back to the bookkeeping = :)

Last Year 2024 was a real blast ….Here at Irenas Bookkeeping Services Sydney, It was Pure Growth

We most certainly learned a few things….naturally some good, and some bad……As a result we renewed our vigour, in our humble Mission and powerful all consuming Vision and….guess what ……WE ACTED

SO In January 2025, We cleared the decks by SACKING a few Toxic Clients…..Yeh you heard right, …We sacked the clients…and not just one either….quite a FEW

I know that the alien concept of sacking clients in these tricky times is quite unheard of, however we bit the bullet and We got rid of some of these massive clients, whose work methods and ETHOS …. were not in direct Alignment with OURS…..

Going Forward, We ONLY want clients who in Partnership with Irenas Bookkeeping, will work both Efficiently and Harmoniously and NOT burn out, Our much loved and much respected, Super Talented CREW….

At some level this stuff has to be Fun, not all the time of course……Just Most of the time -)

Funny yet interesting Conclusion to the above pro active business decision that we took over a month ago,

Just like that, we replaced a block of 88 billable hours a week (one of the terminated clients)… It seems that if you are Courageous enough to Clean house, the bad eggs get replaced Easily and organically…..

In this glorious month of February, We NEED roughly another 5 new Contract Hires.

Ideally, you would all join us by the end of July 2025…..

What we have gathered from so many successful interview sessions that we conducted in 2024, is that, in order to WIN and successfully perform inside our business,

You must have the following attributes or indeed be willing to learn and, or master some of them :

(a) Have Amazing attention to detail ( Non Negotiable: Either you have IT or you Don't )

(b) Be OPEN and willing to LEARN and during the learning process, hopefully grasp new concepts quickly.

( C ) MAKE Mistakes early and LEARN fast. All we ask is that, the mistakes you make over time get more and more Complex ( a solid sign of excellent Adaptation and being a life long Learner)

HOWEVER in saying that , Making the same basic ROOKIE mistakes in week 6, that you have already made in week One, is simply Unacceptable

Since February last year,

We as a Sydney bookkeeping business have received on average, over 1100 Applicants, every time we have published a new Call Out for new Contract Bookkeepers on SEEK.

Subsequent individual job adverts post-February have Attracted over 1500 applicants ….

This absolute deluge of Candidates has forced us to adapt our Interview process somewhat. It is now a rapid 2 step process.

Step 1. This first step is EITHER a super quick 2-3 minute text interview or a super quick 2-4 minute voice discussion.

Step 2. Once you have proceeded past the initial first step, we move on to the crucial second step.

Here, a face-to-face interview and short practical bookkeeping test takes place. In this important step, We look for and identify 2 crucial elements in the prospective candidates,

(A) Firstly Whether you understand your debits from your credits

(B) Secondly We attempt to ascertain as best we can, Your Attention to Detail. ( Super Important and NON Negotiable )

Once step 2 is completed, and the potential candidate passes this all-important step, a new contract is issued.

Finally, all scheduled Interview Times are based on the SYDNEY TIME Zone

PPS: We test and observe both big things as well as small things……ATTENTION to Detail, in terms of replying promptly and accurately to the Pre-Test email, tells us earlier on whether you have the propensity to carefully read and understand a simple brief of new client handover notes….

NOW to THE Detail:

You would be an experienced bookkeeper with deep Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience, however, come as you are -)

These are 100 Percent Remote Bookkeeping Contract Roles

Training and Support is happily provided for the vetted candidates.

Attention to Detail is a must-have. The technical is easy to train however if you do not have the attention to detail that is needed, I am afraid, we are not for you.

We have multiple roles available.

And we regularly hire contract bookkeepers from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland,and our home base of New South Wales.

This is a 100 percent remote Contract role.

If you enjoy flexible work hours and the variety of working with a range of different clients, then this is the role for you.

Experienced Contract Bookkeepers who have exceptional attention to detail, are well-presented, and have the ability to build effective relationships with clients are what's needed. You must be extremely fluent in business English. and having good experience with XERO is essential.

Skills and experience

To be successful you will have:

Experience in a similar role
Strong computer literacy - competency in Xero & payroll preferred
Good communication skills
High attention to detail
Able to meet deadlines

Exceptional attention to detail is a must. You must be extremely fluent in business English.

NO NO NO to Offshore Bookkeepers.

We Do NOT Offshore Work.

All our work is done here in Australia by Domestic Australian Bookkeepers. Unfortunately, if you live Overseas, do NOT apply.

These roles are ONLY for Contract Bookkeepers who are allowed to legally live and work in Australia.
