About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled hands-on
Engineering Lead
to join our team in
Melbourne
and drive the technical delivery of highly scalable distributed solutions for

, our AI-powered preventive healthcare platform.

You will balance hands-on coding (50-75%) with leadership responsibilities - design, direction, task breakdown, and work allocation. You will serve as the technical anchor for the team, responsible for maintaining the reliability, performance, and overall health of our platforms, products, and services. You will work closely with the Scrum Master / Iteration Manager, Architect and Product Owner to deliver high-quality outcomes that balance delivery priorities, technical debt reduction, and operational excellence.

This position combines hands-on engineering with strong technical leadership. You will design and build on-prem and cloud solutions, mentor and guide engineers, and work collaboratively with fellow Senior Engineers to uplift engineering standards and practices across the Engineering function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical standards, engineering excellence, and best practices across the team
  • Guide and support the Engineering team to build scalable, resilient, and secure cloud and on-prem infrastructure
  • Partner with product and consuming teams to understand challenges and deliver meaningful, value-driven solutions
  • Analyse data, workflows, and processes to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Lead by example through strong technical leadership, engineering best practices, and agile delivery
  • Maintain the operational health, reliability, and cost efficiency of on-prem and cloud platforms
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to balance delivery needs with long-term technical strategy

Skills & Experience:

This role requires someone who will have:

  • 7+ years' experience of hands on software development
  • 2+ years' experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Deep technical expertise in any programming language e.g. C#, Java, Python, Rust or any other
  • Strong understanding of
    microservices
    , APIs, distributed systems, on-prem and cloud design
  • Frontend exposure: Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Flutter or Xamarin
  • Strong cloud governance across cost, policy, networking, and large-scale resource automation
  • Experience implementing DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, semantic versioning, and automated orchestration of cloud resources
  • Provisioning, operating, and automating Kubernetes and containerised workloads (Docker) at scale
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, and similar languages, including unit testing for scripting-based automation
  • Designing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions with Terraform
  • Building automation for cost optimisation, operational health, metrics, logging, monitoring, and observability
  • Producing clear, concise documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
