About the role

As a Sunshine Sugar Apprentice, your on-the-job training will be structured to ensure you are fully supported by our professional tradespeople to become a qualified Electrician.

Industrial electricians working in sugar mills are exposed to a great variety of equipment not seen in many other industries. You will be working with large motors, transformers and equipment ranging from fibre optic transmission cable through to 11,000V wiring and control. All this equipment is connected together through a complex control system which your team maintains.

Upon completion, you will receive a nationally recognised trade Certificate III in Electrotechnology. Sunshine Sugar provides a structured process with workplace based training, supported by theory & practical components through local TAFE one day per week.

  • Completion of high school with sound academic results
  • Ability to fault find quickly & to work well with your hands
  • High level maths skills
  • Demonstrated passion for your chosen trade
  • A highly developed sense of responsibility & accountability
  • Willingness to follow directions & work in a team environment
  • Commitment to ensuring a safe & healthy working environment for all
