THE POSITION
The Library Technician will report directly to the Head of Teaching and Learning and will be responsible for the delivery of library and information services to the staff and students of Marsden Park Anglican College. They support the College in both Junior School and Senior School as the College grows to become a Prep to Year 12 College by 2029.
The successful applicant will be passionate about providing welcoming and excellent customer service to our community, is able to operate with collaboration, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism, has prior experience in a similar role, possesses good communication both written and verbal and strong organisational skills.
The Library Technician delivers a broad range of services to support the College.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE LIBRARY FACILITIES
• Undertake rostered duties at the Loans Desk
• Assist staff and students with class bookings
• Availability before school, after school and at recess and lunchtimes to engage directly with staff and students
• Copy cataloguing new books from the Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS), original cataloguing and classifying items, as required
• Purchasing of new books and resources for the Library
• Plan and prepare physical and electronic displays to promote new resources and upcoming events
• Serials management
• Complete end processing of resources including covering
• Assist with collection management, including issuing overdue notices, billing and stocktaking of resources
• Learn and assist in the implementation of new technologies and the provision of online resources
• Overseeing online subscriptions, such as ClickView and others
• Shelving, as required
• Participate in Professional Development, as appropriate
• Assist with overall student management in the Library
• Other duties, as required
It should be noted that, while detailed, this role description is not exhaustive and the Principal may, at their discretion, vary these responsibilities as required by the learning, wellbeing, cultural, community and administrative requirements of the College.
THE CANDIDATEA suitable candidate for this position will be passionate about providing a welcoming and calm reception for all who interact with the Library. They will have a genuine love of people with highly developed and effective interpersonal communication skills, warmth and engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents, offering excellent customer service to our community. With flawless professionalism and prior experience in a similar role, they will be exceptionally organised and be used to working to deadlines.
The Library Technician will demonstrate an active Christian faith and involvement in their local church, supporting the Christian ethos of the College. They will report directly to the Head of Teaching and Learning and will be responsible for the management of all matters that relate to the Library as well as providing support for other areas of operation where appropriate.
ESSENTIAL:
· Current Working with Children Check Number for paid work, or willingness to obtain
· First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
DESIRABLE:
· Experience with Edumate, digital database maintenance
· Experience working in an education environment or a not-for-profit environment
