As an Education Officer, you will play a vital role in driving positive change across the community. This position involves working closely with councils, schools, and waste industry professionals to develop and deliver innovative waste education programs. You'll lead social marketing initiatives, create engaging school-based and community programs aligned with the NSW curriculum, and support the shift toward a circular economy. With a strong focus on community consultation, behaviour change, and environmental awareness, this is your chance to make a real impact.

About the role:
  • Develop and coordinate regional waste education programs in collaboration with councils, schools, and industry partners to promote sustainable waste practices.
  • Lead community engagement initiatives focused on behaviour change through social marketing and circular economy education.
  • Design and deliver school-based environmental education programs aligned with the NSW curriculum for both primary and high school students.
  • Support project implementation by providing training, resources, and consultation based on identified community needs and program objectives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on program effectiveness, contribute to funding applications, and promote initiatives through branding and public outreach.

We are seeking:
  • A degree-qualified professional in environmental science, natural resource management, education, or a related field, with a current driver's licence (car).
  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and community-based solutions, especially in waste and natural resource management.
  • Proven experience in developing, delivering, and promoting community education and public awareness programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and manage conflict effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, auditing practices, and principles related to Resource Recovery and the Circular Economy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised, and also to work in a team environment
