Are you passionate about supporting schools deliver early intervention and preventative therapeutic interventions to students? The Student Wellbeing Program is looking for Psychologists to work across a number of schools providing therapeutic interventions to students with mild to moderate mental health concerns and lead initiatives to promote positive mental health and wellbeing within school communities.

About the Student Wellbeing Program

The Student Wellbeing Program ensures that every Queensland state primary and secondary school has access to a qualified wellbeing professional. As part of this program, student wellbeing professionals work within existing school student support teams to provide targeted assistance for students experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns.

Responsibilities include:

As the Student Wellbeing Professional (SWP) your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop therapeutic plan and provide ongoing evidence-based interventions to students and their families.
  • Support and work collaboratively with caregivers, school staff and stakeholder groups to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes
  • Promote positive mental health within the school community.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification in Psychology and general registration with AHPRA, or if a new graduate, must hold provisional registration with AHPRA with a supervision plan approved by the Psychology Board of Australia prior to the commencement of employment.
  • In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, registered health practitioners working within their professional capacity must hold valid registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at all times during their employment for the purpose of satisfying the exemption requirements of the Act.
