About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) Instrument Technician to join our team at Far North Day Hospital in Cairns, QLD. This is a part-time role with flexible working options available. As a CSSD Instrument Technician, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest standards of instrument processing and sterilisation, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
What you'll be doing
- Carefully decontaminate, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilise surgical instruments and equipment according to strict protocols
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to sterilisation processes
- Assist with the restocking and distribution of sterile supplies throughout the hospital
- Proactively identify and report any equipment issues or maintenance needs
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSSD operations and procedures
- Participate in departmental training and professional development activities
What we're looking for
- Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent qualification
- GENCA certificate in reprocessing of endoscopes, or will to obtain on employment
- Proven experience as a CSSD Instrument Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilisation techniques
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
