About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) Instrument Technician to join our team at Far North Day Hospital in Cairns, QLD. This is a part-time role with flexible working options available. As a CSSD Instrument Technician, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest standards of instrument processing and sterilisation, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

What you'll be doing

  • Carefully decontaminate, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilise surgical instruments and equipment according to strict protocols
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to sterilisation processes
  • Assist with the restocking and distribution of sterile supplies throughout the hospital
  • Proactively identify and report any equipment issues or maintenance needs
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSSD operations and procedures
  • Participate in departmental training and professional development activities

What we're looking for

  • Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent qualification
  • GENCA certificate in reprocessing of endoscopes, or will to obtain on employment
  • Proven experience as a CSSD Instrument Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilisation techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
