Role Summary
We're looking for a passionate Graduate Occupational Therapist who's ready to make a real impact while learning the ropes in a supportive, structured environment. This role is ideal for a new graduate eager to develop strong clinical foundations, build confidence in community practice, and grow within a team that genuinely values mentorship and collaboration.
You'll work closely with a Senior OT and the broader multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, evidence-based services. Expect structured supervision, gradual caseload growth, and plenty of support as you transition from university to independent practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct supervised functional capacity, environmental, and activity-based assessments under Senior OT guidance.
- Develop and implement goal-directed intervention plans focusing on building independence and participation.
- Provide therapy across various settings — home, community, and school — with supervision and gradual exposure to different caseloads.
- Maintain high-quality documentation, progress notes, and reports aligned with NDIS and POGCS standards.
- Collaborate with family members, support coordinators, and multidisciplinary practitioners to ensure holistic care.
- Participate in structured supervision, monthly clinical group sessions, and ongoing skill development.
- Contribute to internal case reviews, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Supervision & Learning Structure
Our graduate pathway is designed to nurture both your confidence and competence:
- 1:1 Weekly Supervision: Dedicated time with your assigned Senior OT for case review, reflection, and clinical guidance.
- Monthly Group Supervision: Topic-based learning sessions on key areas (e.g., Paediatrics, Mental Health, Home Mods, AT).
- Informal Supervision: Open-door support for ad-hoc questions, quick debriefs, and reassurance moments.
- Shadowing & Gradual Caseload: Initial shadowing period followed by a phased caseload (3–4 core client types) to reduce overwhelm and encourage specialisation.
- Report Pre-Review: QA support for your first 10 reports or first 3 months to refine documentation and clinical reasoning.
- Regular Check-ins: Periodic informal reviews with leadership to discuss progress, confidence, and areas for support.
Performance Expectations
KPI: 4 billable hours/day (20 hrs/week), gradually increasing over 6 months.
Caseload: 2–3 clients per day initially, building up as confidence and capacity grow.
Team Presence: Regular attendance at the office/online for collaboration, peer learning, and culture-building.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Essential:
- Australian Drivers License
- Registration with AHPRA
- NDIS Worker Screening
- Working with Children Check
