Job Description

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of people with disability? Do you want to be part of a company that champions professional growth, values-driven work, and a supportive team culture?

Ability Action Australia is growing — and we're looking for our next Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) to join our incredible team.

Whether you're an experienced BSP or come from a strong background in the disability sector, we want to hear from you

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
  • Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
  • Acting as an advocate and role model for best practice
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

As you support many, we support you.

We offer you:

  • Benefits – Professional Development allowance, staff referral scheme, Fitness Passport… just to name a few
  • Flexibility – You can select the hours and days - full-time or part-time - that work best for you as an individual
  • Excellent remuneration – Industry leading salary + kilometre reimbursement + laptop + smartphone + Performance with Purpose Reward and Recognition Program + salary packaging options
  • Work-life balance – Combine the convenience of working from home with the social interaction of working in the community plus the support of office and clinic hours
  • Career progression – Access to ongoing training tailored to your interests and long-term goals combined with professional development opportunities with Ability Action Australia and our parent company MedHealth
  • Passionate and uplifting culture – You will be part of a purpose and values driven team focused on delivering outstanding service to NDIS participants
Qualifications

To be considered suitable you will have:

  • Extensive experience working within the NDIS framework and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours
  • Qualified Behaviour Support Practitioners or professionals with extensive experience in the disability or mental health sector
  • Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours
  • Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload
