The Nationals WA
are the voice for rural, regional and remote Western Australians, proudly independent, values-led, and committed to securing a fair and more prosperous future for all people, in a stronger, more secure and sustainable nation.
As the Party enters a new phase of growth and reform, The Nationals WA are seeking a dynamic, high-performing leader to take on the pivotal role of
State Director.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a values-aligned, commercially minded leader to guide a prominent Western Australian political organisation through its next phase of growth, engagement and influence.
Working closely with the State Executive, the State Director is the most senior operational leader in the organisation, responsible for overseeing Party operations, membership engagement, fundraising, campaign planning, governance, communications and compliance.
Prior experience in politics or a party organisation is welcome, but not essential. The core contributions required will be made through strong leadership and relationships, sound business and operational management, and the ability to effectively engage with people from all walks of life to grow our support base and presence within the wider community.
As such, we invite applications from people from a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds, who want to contribute to something meaningful, lead with purpose, and make a real impact in the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead day-to-day Party operations, compliance, financial management, administration and facilities.
- Collaborate with the State Executive, Council and other party committees to set and implement campaign and organisational goals, and report on agreed outcomes
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, including elected officials, donors, partners and volunteers
- Support campaign strategy and pre-election planning
- Drive member engagement, growth, and regional outreach
- Lead fundraising strategy and implementation across major donors, events, and grassroots networks
- Develop and manage partnerships with corporate supporters, donors and aligned external organisations.
- Represent the Party to external stakeholders including government agencies, industry bodies, regional organisations and the media
- Supervision of a small team within the Secretariat office, short term campaign staff or other volunteers and contractors as required
What You'll Bring
The position requires someone who leads with integrity and clarity, who can connect with people from all walks of life, and who can maintain structure and focus on what really matters, in a fast-moving, highly engaged environment.
This role will suit someone with:
- Prior executive or senior leadership experience, with exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A diplomatic, inclusive and resilient leadership style, with the ability to build trust and navigate diverse stakeholder needs
- Solid strategic, financial and operational capability, ideally with business or organisational oversight experience
- Experience in fundraising, donor relations, partnership /sponsorship development
- Sound judgment and the ability to cut through complexity and prioritise effectively
- Political awareness or experience working in member-driven or purpose-led environment or industry
- Alignment with the values, principles and mission of The Nationals WA
- Ability to undertake regional travel, and potentially some interstate travel, and to attend occasional meetings and events outside of standard business hours
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours on occasion, and travel to regional, and occasional interstate, locations
This is a full-time, senior position based in West Perth, with flexible work arrangements.
Why This Is a Great Opportunity
This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to take the reins of an organisation at a pivotal moment, to bring your strong leadership, passion and professionalism to a Party with deep roots, bold ideas, and a renewed focus on the future.
You'll have the chance to shape culture, build structure, grow influence, and lead a values-driven team working toward real outcomes for Western Australia's regional communities.
For the right person, this isn't just a job - it's a meaningful leadership legacy – and opportunity to strengthen the voice of regional Australia in our national conversation, for a better and more sustainable future for all Australians.
To Apply
Please submit your resume and cover letter via the Seek link.
We will provide further information, including a detailed Position Description, to shortlisted applicants whose experience aligns with the key requirements.
