Job Title: Disability Support Worker / S'gaw Karen Interpreter

Location: Wyndham vale Victoria

Position Type: Casual

Hours: Approximately 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Disability Support Worker who can speak S'gaw Karen to assist and interpret for one of our female clients from Burma. The role involves providing daily support to help the client maintain her independence and participate in community activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred support to the client in accordance with her NDIS goals
  • Assist with daily living tasks and community participation
  • Act as an interpreter between the client and support staff as needed
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

Requirements:

  • Ability to speak and understand S'gaw Karen and English fluently
  • Previous experience in the disability or community services sector (preferred but not essential)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) and Police Check
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred)
  • Reliable, patient, and committed to supporting others
