Overview:
The RTBU NSW Locomotive Division represents Train Drivers in both the passenger and freight sectors across NSW. The NSW Locomotive Division is seeking a Specialist Organiser to work with delegates and members, while also providing industrial and advocacy support.
About the Role:
The Specialist Organiser works under the direction of the Divisional Secretary and Director of Organising and will be based at the RTBU's Newcastle office.
A brief outline of the position:
Implement and support workplace organising campaigns that increase membership, grow activism, and develop workplace leadership by building collective power.
Assist members through disputes, investigations, and bargaining. Represent members before tribunals and in workplace change processes, providing advice on agreements, awards and workplace rights.
Source and recruit new delegates, providing them with the guidance and support needed to develop into effective workplace leaders.
Maintain high visibility with members, delegates, and employers, ensuring that the RTBU Locomotive Division is a proactive and trusted presence in the industry.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Commitment to trade union values.
- Significant industrial/advocacy experience or relevant degree.
- Knowledge of industrial relations legislation and bargaining frameworks.
- Advocacy experience before tribunals (e.g. Fair Work Commission).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Drivers licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
Salary:
Remuneration will be determined according to skills and experience.
Benefits include:
- 15 days personal leave
- 5 weeks annual leave (20% leave loading)
- 1 Rostered Day Off per month
