The Centre:

Junior Einsteins Nurturing Centre – Blackbutt has been established within the Shellharbour region since 2007, providing the children with a collaborative environment in our one room centre. Our Blackbutt service is open 50 weeks a year, closing for 2 weeks over the Christmas break. The service caters for 33 children per day, from the ages of 2 to 5 years, with opening hours from 7:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, closed on public holidays.

We are searching for an experienced, energetic and bubbly Centre Cook to join our team The cook will be employed on a part time basis, 5 days per week from 9am to 1pm, providing a highly nutritious menu for the children for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Duties/Responsibilities include:

• Work within a collaborative environment with children and educators at the service
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, sanitised & organised workspace and environment by following effective hygiene practices and cleaning schedules.
• Ensure all food preparation is completed on a daily basis, following the services' balanced and nutritious menu, created with guidelines set by Munch and Move.
• Ensure correct storage of all food, and maintaining stock control of food items.
• Ensure food safety for children with anaphylaxis, allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements by providing alternative options to meet their dietary needs.
• Complete all dish washing and cleaning of equipment, utensils, bowls and plates after all mealtimes.
• Follow the service policies and procedures outlining hygiene standards and protocols to ensure effective and safe food handling and storage.
• Maintain kitchen safety/ temperature checks on a daily basis.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning jobs as set.
• Adhere to 'The Code of Ethics' and 'The United Nations Rights of the Child'.
• Uphold strong communication and people skills to engage with families and educators within the service.

Essential Requirements:

• Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willing to obtain.
• Safe Food Handling and Menu Planning, or Commercial Cookery Certificate, or willing to obtain.
• At least 2 years' experience in a similar role, or with food preparation experience.
• NSW Working with Children's Check.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisation skills.
