Are you our next Compliance Analyst?

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, as a Compliance Analyst at Defence Bank, you will support the management of Defence Bank's risk and compliance systems, provide advice on regulatory changes, assist with incident reporting, and contribute to monitoring, testing, and reporting activities - all within a purpose-led mutual bank.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversight and administration of the Bank's central risk and compliance system, including ongoing monitoring and compliance obligation mapping
  • Completion of compliance test activities directed by the Head of Compliance
  • Maintenance of Risk & Compliance policy and procedure documentation and recommending updates where required.
  • Provide supporting advice to business units on either proposed internal process or regulatory changes.
  • Assistance in the oversight and reporting of internally reported incidents and breaches, including reporting to regulators.
  • Compilation of monthly risk & compliance data and metrics for use as part of the department's monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Monitoring of key business exception reports & testing and escalating further action where necessary.
  • Providing ongoing support to the department's annual compliance monitoring & testing programs.
  • Assisting in the preparation, validation and lodgement of regulatory and industry returns.
  • Providing ongoing support to the Head of Compliance and specific business units in meeting their compliance requirements.

This role provides the opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of risk and compliance across the organisation. You'll help monitor and influence the Bank's frameworks, contribute to regulatory and committee reporting, collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, and play a key role in business-led initiatives and projects.

Skills and Experiences:

About You

You are a passionate risk and compliance professional with high attention to detail, who is comfortable working within a busy risk and compliance team. You will utilise your problem-solving skills to overcome challenges. Your energy, commitment and level-headed approach ensure you thrive in this dynamic environment.

You have:

  • At least 3-5 years' relevant experience in financial services with a focus on risk & compliance activities.
  • A good understanding of the banking & financial services regulatory environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance or Compliance.

You will also have demonstrated experience or skills in:

  • Building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Developing and conducting monitoring & testing activities.
  • Preparing data and reports.
  • Analysing potentially complex situations and identify workable solutions in response.
  • Utilising contemporary risk & compliance frameworks in practice.
  • Working autonomously.
  • Self-managing your work to achieve deadlines.
