Doral Mineral Sands Pty Ltd(DMS), has well established heavy mineral sands mining and processing facilities near Bunbury, Busselton and Mandurah in the Southwest of WA. As part of the company's growth strategy, we are looking to broaden our mineral sands operations within the Gascoyne region of WA.

The Health and Safety Advisor/MESO is responsible for supporting the safe and compliant operation of the mine site by providing professional health and safety advice, implementing systems and initiatives, and maintaining emergency response capability.

This dual-role position ensures compliance with the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA) and site-specific management plans while assisting with the implementation and training of safe work practices and verification of competencies.

The position plays a critical role in building proactive safety culture, ensuring statutory and company standards are met and that the site is equipped to respond effectively to emergencies including fire, first aid, hazardous materials and rescue scenarios.

Health and Safety

• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in training and assessing workplace competencies.
• Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are tracked to completion.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety alerts, and training sessions relating to site safety culture and compliance.
• Support management in ensuring legal compliance with WHS(Mines) Regulations.
• Maintain accurate safety data and contribute to performance reporting hazard and incident frequency.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to Supervisors and work crews in hazard management and safe work practices.
• Manage onsite medical facilities, administer first aid and liaise with external emergency services when required
• Identify high risk areas and develop pre-incident rescue strategies
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing of onsite personnel as required
• Maintain and oversee the site emergency response plan, ensuring readiness and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including training coordination, drill facilitation, and skill competency assessments.
• Coordinate emergency response during incidents, including communication with external services (DFES, St John, etc.).
• Manage emergency and first aid equipment, breathing apparatus, spill kits, and firefighting systems.
• Support mine management in crisis management planning, communications, and post-incident reviews.
• Ensure the MESO logbooks, registers, and maintenance records are accurate and up to date.

Skills/Education/Technical Knowledge

• Certificate IV OH&S / WHS
• Cert IV in Health Care (Ambulance).
• Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
• Minimum C Class Drivers Licence (MR Licence is desirable)
• Experience working in the mining industry in a similar role including coordination of an emergency response team and writing and reviewing medical and emergency procedures
• Effective Communication
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suit

• Certificate IV TAE
• ICAM training completion certificate
