AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About the role:
Are you a seasoned DevSecOps professional, brimming with enthusiasm for nurturing less experienced colleagues, and eager to transition into a position that empowers you to advocate for impactful technical strategies across a broader team?
Working as the lead technical subject matter expert for the Common Operating Environment (COE) team within the AIR6500 program, you will mentor and lead a growing team in an fast paced agile environment while working with evolving technologies.
Reporting directly to the team's product owner, your key responsibilities will be the mentoring and developing the team while providing experienced oversight and guidance for the technical decisions made by the team and wider project within the DevSecOps and engineering tools domain.
You daily responsibilities will be:
- Providing technical SME guidance to both the team and project in regards to key technologies such as Infrastructure-as-code, GitLab CI/CD, VMware Virtualisation and Containerisation/Orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Helping to shape and mentor the development of less experienced DevSecOps team members by establishing and providing relevant technical and domain knowledge.
- Performing code reviews and establishing technical direction to the team while leading technical discussions with stakeholders across the program.
- Deploying and maintaining metrics and reporting tools to support multiple program stakeholder requests.
- Overseeing and promoting an Agile culture within the team.
- Overseeing and support development, tailor and maintain key program plans, procedures and templates for managing COE related activities.
- Identifying and supporting the management of constraints to tool deployment such as classification of environments and export control requirements.
- Being responsible for the delivery of team backlog, tasking the team and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner and document and present the results.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive experience with DevSecOps, specifically with CI/CD and implementing security best practices,
- Significant Linux operating system administration and hardening experience,
- Experience with Agile Software Development,
- Experience with infrastructure and configuration and code tools (Ansible, Terraform),
- Experience with Software Factory tool suites (Gitlab, Nexus, Fortify, Sonarqube),
- Advanced verbal communication skills including both speaking with and listening to the Customers and other stakeholders,
- Significant leadership experience,
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) desired,
- Experience creating data driven reporting dashboards and alerting desired,
- Experience with MBSE tool suite (IBM Jazz, NoMagic).
