Exciting Opportunity for an Outreach Team Manager, Forbes NSW

Binaal Billa Family Violence Prevention Legal Service is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as an Outreach Team Manager.   • Remuneration – between $90,000 - $110,000 per annum (SCHADS Level) based on experience and qualifications

About Binaal Billa:

Binaal Billa, Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (FVPLS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) based in Forbes, NSW. We provide culturally appropriate services locally and to extended communities via outreach. We offer legal advice and support with inclusive case management to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of family and domestic violence and sexual assault. The organisation is focused on providing the highest level of service to all clients and strengthen community connections.

About the role:

The position of Outreach Team Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, planning and organisation of the Community Support Workers (CSWs) of Binaal Billa Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (BBFVPLS). The Outreach Manager is responsible for ensuring all CSWs are maintaining their workload and feel supported in their working environment. The Outreach Manager will attend outreach visits, growth and maintenance of community stakeholder engagement and completing case management processes for Indigenous clients who are victims of family and domestic violence and sexual assault. This position works closely with the Business Development Manager to increase service provision and to achieve funding objectives. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Cert IV Community Services (minimum)
  • Diploma Community Services or higher (preferable)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience leading teams in a complex work environment with flexibility & confidentiality
  • Previous experience working within the family violence and sexual assault field or child protection fields
  • Knowledge of relevant community resources including community health, public health and Aboriginal health systems
  • Understanding the diverse needs of Aboriginal people and culturally appropriate practices

About You:

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality (COA) is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a team leader or manager with appropriate qualification or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Experience working in case management and holistic care of clients with highly complex needs.
  • Experience working with health agencies, non-government organisations, community groups and medical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise tact, initiative and sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated experience to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the communities we serve.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time frames and in accordance with variable workload demands.
  • Capacity to work out within communities with clients as required including overnight stays.
  • A current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or ability to gain).
  • Hold a current valid NSW driver's licence.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Oversee the workload of CSWs as their reporting supervisor when completing outreach and events in the community. Ensure CSWs are presenting themselves professionally as per policies and procedures and code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate high initiative, remain positive and focused on objectives even in difficult circumstances.
  • Actively work and network with relevant stakeholders and communities towards reducing the prevalence of family and domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Operate outreach services in accordance with the operational framework and policies and procedures.
  • Maintain client, staff and operational records to the highest standards with strict confidentiality.
  • Report to the Business Development Manager for business objectives, completion of monthly reports, staffing matters, outreach calendar requirements and organisational reports.
  • Identify with Aboriginal Cultural values and belief systems and have appreciation of those values to understand the cultural aspects of trauma.
  • Have a clear understanding of the legal aspects associated with family and domestic violence and ensure clients are supported throughout the process of legal proceedings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with mandatory reporting procedures and court support services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously but also enjoy a collaborative environment.
