Primary objective
Supervise a finance team with the specific aim of providing efficient and effective accounts receivable services to client
agencies in relation to issuing of invoices, processing receipts and managing government debtor accounts.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Supervise and coordinate an Accounts Receivable team ensuring that invoices are issued and receipts processed
accurately and in a timely manner and Government debtor accounts are professionally managed.
2. Manage a portfolio of government agencies and their debtors ensuring that debtor balances are maintained at
appropriate levels and the timeliness of receipts to the NTG are maximised.
3. Ensure that complex and contentious issues with customer debtor accounts are resolved promptly.
4. Facilitate the ongoing development of the team's knowledge and technical expertise.
5. Contribute to and actively seek opportunities for streamlined work practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High standard of interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
2. An understanding of the responsibilities of supervisors in relation to equal employment opportunity (EEO), occupational
health and safety (OH&S) and the experience and ability to delegate, motivate and support a team including an
understanding of change management.
- Proven ability to use information systems and knowledge to effectively utilise a variety of applications including word
processing, spreadsheets and data base software packages and the ability to apply that technology to perform complex
reconciliations and reporting.
- Thorough knowledge and experience of accounts processing and the ability to undertake and resolve the more complex
elements of accounts processing.
- A good understanding of the GST legislation and how it affects the payments of accounts.
- Good knowledge and experience of developing and providing a friendly and efficient client service including the ability
to handle complaints appropriately and promote excellent customer service standards through a small team.
