About the Role
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced administrator, preferably with experience working in a busy high-volume processing environment or legal administration role, to take on a position helping vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders secure funding for legal assistance in accordance with approved funding criteria.
You will also be responsible for implementing Grants best practice management standards across all stages of the funding cycle. You will liaise with clients and legal practitioners about grants of legal aid, systems and processes.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Analyse, assess and process applications in line with approved funding criteria and tests as it relates to a client's eligibility to receive funding for legal representation at various stages of proceedings.
- Gather additional information to support and verify application details.
- Assist clients, legal practitioners and other stakeholders in relation to grants of aid.
- Maintain files including preparing file notes, submissions, data entry, regular review and finalisation.
- Assess and authorise accounts submitted by legal practitioners in line with the payment rules and audit requirements.
- Undertake a range of revenue, compliance and monitoring activities as required.
- Investigate, resolve and respond to stakeholder enquiries and other issues.
- Assist with training and support of other team members as required.
- Actively participate in professional development and business improvement activities.

- Maintain a high standard of practice through governance and risk management

How You Will be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:
- You can accurately analyse, comprehend and interpret funding criteria and apply tests and procedures to make and document decisions in a fast-paced assessing environment.
- You have knowledge of legal practices, procedures and terminology, ideally in family and criminal law.
- You communicate effectively with clients with complex needs, colleagues and internal/external stakeholders and have the ability to explain your decisions. You are ethical in your dealings. You also contribute to a positive team culture.
- You have demonstrated skills in using a range of information technology systems and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- You can prepare a variety of written information in a clear, succinct and accurate manner
