About the roles

CSBS Group are seeking experienced Support Workers in Mental Health Support and high intensity physical supports for participants in Townsville.

All successful applicants will need to share in all shift times to make the roster fair and equitable for all team members. Supports are provided 7 days per week and currently include passive sleepover shifts, they may include active overnight shifts in the future. Please do not apply if you are unable to commit to sharing sleepover shifts.

About you

We are particularly interested in applicants who have a minimum of 24 months experience supporting individuals in Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments.

You will need to be skilled in assisting motivate Participants, but at the same time, not pushing them and giving them their own space and independence.

A current participant is a gentleman who has a spinal cord injury which has resulted in upper and lower limb weakness and sensory impairments.

This gentleman is currenting in a wheelchair and is independent with transfers and toileting, but will need assistance with showering, cooking and cleaning.

The gentleman is a smoker who mostly smokes outside, so you will need to be comfortable working in an environment where smoking occurs.

Proficiency in supporting people the below is essential:

· Schizoaffective disorder

· Depression

· Spinal cord injury

A tertiary qualification, ideally with a minimum Certificate III level in Disability or Aged Care, would be considered highly desirable.

Relevant probity items required

  • a Positive Notice Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check, or the ability to obtain the latter

  • a Positive Notice - Blue Card

  • an Open Queensland Driver's Licence

  • a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance

  • a current First Aid & CPR Certificate

  • a reliable smartphone with data

  • completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You'.
