About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive System Administrator to join our ICT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing the ICT infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure, and effective technology services that support teaching, learning, and administration.
This role is ideal for an IT professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for supporting education in a busy school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the school's ICT systems, servers, networks, and cloud services (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace).
- Manage and support end-user devices including Windows, macOS, iPads, and Chromebooks.
- Oversee network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Ensure system security, backups, disaster recovery, and data protection measures are in place and effective.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff and students, escalating complex issues where required.
- Plan, implement, and manage ICT projects such as system upgrades, deployments, and new technologies.
- Monitor and maintain ICT asset registers, software licensing, and lifecycle management.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership and teaching staff to ensure ICT aligns with educational needs.
- Maintain system documentation, policies, and procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a System Administrator or similar IT infrastructure role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, SharePoint).
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and Chromebook management.
- Networking knowledge (VLANs, Wi-Fi, switching, routing, firewalls) – Cisco/CCNA highly regarded.
- Experience managing and supporting Apple devices (macOS/iOS) in an education environment desirable.
- Strong understanding of IT security, backups, and compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Relevant IT certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, Apple, Google) highly valued.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent industry certifications.
- Current Working With Children Check (mandatory).
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $41.00 – $48.00 per hour
