We have an exciting opportunity for a senior engineer who is energetic and enthusiastic to join the Customer Engagement Technology team within Consumer Technology as a full stack engineer as part of our new staff digital platform. This is a Sydney based hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

What's the role?

The Customer Engagement team is responsible for owning and delivering changes for all our customer facing staff across sales and servicing. You'll be part of our Digital Banker squads working on UNITE—a multi-year, multi-billion dollar transformation program simplifying staff experiences and enhancing customer service. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality digital solutions as part of a cross-functional Agile team within the Westpac Digital platform
  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code aligned with engineering best practices
  • Design and build RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger standards
  • Apply practical engineering approaches by reusing shared components and open-source tools
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complex technical and production issues
  • Ensure code quality and security through regular NPM audits and SONAR scans
  • Drive Agile delivery through active participation in sprint ceremonies
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to engineers within the team
  • Support the growth of early-career talent through graduate and intern programs
  • Contribute to engineering guilds and champion knowledge sharing across the wider engineering community

What do I need?


• Proven experience and results as a Full Stack Developer, with a focus on customer-facing enterprise-level desktop and mobile applications.

• Strong proficiency in , React (Redux), JavaScript, and integrating cloud services (SaaS).

• Passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences and writing performant, reusable, and scalable code.

• Solid understanding of application architecture design patterns and development best practices.

• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

• Familiarity with development tools such as Git, Bitbucket, PowerShell, SonarQube, etc.

• Exposure to CI/CD tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, Ansible, and GitHub.

Desirable Skills


• Experience with Test-Driven Development and testing automation frameworks.

• Exposure to cloud-native technologies.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
