The Opportunity
This role is primarily focused on leading the successful delivery of brownfields and sustaining capital projects for Tier 1-3 resource companies. As the Manager Sustaining Capital, you will oversee project execution from planning through to completion, ensuring engineering resources are effectively coordinated. In addition to its technical leadership function, this role will drive business development activities by proactively identifying opportunities, managing client engagement and executing strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Include
Sustaining Capital Management
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of brownfields and sustaining capital projects for Tier 1-3 resource companies, ensuring alignment with client expectations, safety standards, and project timelines.
 - Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines and external contractors to coordinate resources and ensure efficient project execution.
 - Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
 - Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing proactive solutions to maintain project momentum.
 - Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance project delivery processes and engineering practices.
 
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Wave's strategic goals.
 - Develop proposals, tenders, and RFQs in collaboration with internal subject matter experts.
 - Build and maintain strong client relationships, including site visits and industry event representation.
 - Negotiate pricing and ensure proposals meet client expectations and project profitability.
 
Skills & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering from a recognised institution.
 - Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams on brownfields and sustaining capital projects from concept through to delivery.
 - Strong project management capabilities, including cost control, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in the preparation of proposals, tenders, and RFQs.
 - Experience managing business development activities, including proposal preparation and maintaining strong, strategic client relationships.
