POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Estimator to become an integral part of our Estimating Department. This role is pivotal to Hickory's success, offering the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects that shape the skyline and infrastructure of Australia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Industry Engagement: Play a crucial role in liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure our projects are supported by the best resources available.
• Cost Estimation: Deliver precise and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, covering structural systems, materials, labour, equipment, and overheads to ensure both accuracy and competitiveness.
• Bid Preparation: Prepare fully measured, detailed, and competitive bid proposals that align with client requirements and project specifications. The ability to produce transparent and professional documentation is essential.
• Project Management: Coordinate the estimation process within project timelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Financial Management: Optimise project profitability through strategic budgeting, cost control, and the implementation of cost-saving measures.
• Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with project estimation.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry innovations and best practices, integrating new technologies and methodologies into the estimation process.
• Mentorship: Support and mentor other team members in your areas of expertise.
• Learning & Contribution: Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and processes and contribute across all aspects of bid estimation, not just structural elements.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years' practical experience in the commercial construction industry, with specific expertise in construction estimation.
• Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools, ideally including Cubit, Cubit Select, and Excel.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with subcontractors.
