We are looking for a seasoned Automation Test Engineer to join our Institutional Wholesale Digital team. You'll play a key role in strengthening and expanding the automated test suite that supports our institutional banking platform. This is a hands-on role where you'll design, build, and maintain test automation across complex financial applications, ensuring reliability, compliance, and seamless integration with banking workflows.

What You'll Do

Automation Development

  • Enhance and maintain a Playwright-based UI automation framework and Karate API test cases for APIs and event-driven workflows.
  • Build end-to-end automated test scenarios for:
  • UI journeys and workflows
  • API testing (standalone and integrated with UI)
  • Event-driven processes
  • Report generation & validation (PDF/Excel)
  • Data checks for regulatory compliance
  • Implement and maintain a Page Object Model with reusable components.
  • Create API helpers to support data setup, validation, and UI integration.

Environment & Infrastructure

  • Run tests across multiple environments and browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).
  • Handle complex authentication (OAuth, security tokens) and proxy configurations.
  • Execute tests in Dockerized environments with robust test data management.

Quality & Best Practices

  • Design automation strategies to cover critical banking workflows.
  • Validate outputs such as regulatory reports, data extracts, and audit logs.
  • Optimise performance with parallel execution and efficient timeouts.
  • Keep the suite updated with evolving applications and selectors.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Partner with business analysts, developers, and product owners to align on testing needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, framework guides, and troubleshooting notes.
  • Review code, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior team members on automation practices.

What You'll Bring

Core Technical Skills

  • Expertise in Playwright for UI automation.
  • Strong knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and the ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with npm package management.

Additional Tools & Frameworks

  • Experience with
    mocking tools
    such as Wiremock or Mountebank.
  • Git for version control and collaborative workflows.
  • Reporting tools (Allure, HTML, JUnit XML).
  • CI/CD integration (CodeFresh, GitHub Actions, Docker).
  • Test management integration with
    JIRA/XRay
    .

Banking/Financial Domain

  • Understanding of institutional banking workflows and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience validating financial data, reports, and audit trails.
  • Knowledge of cash management products and authorisation processes is a plus.
