Procurement Specialist Role

  • Permanent full time | Flexible work opportunities
  • Based in our office at Macquarie University
  • Competitive base salary plus 15.4% superannuation

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support our procurement and vendor management activities (Tender process of selected procurement categories).

  • Assist in preparing and coordinating procurement activities, including RFx processes, vendor evaluations and contract negotiations
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Act as the internal point of contact for supplier management and complaint resolution; conduct regular supplier meetings and implement improvement strategies with suppliers
  • Ensure all contracts are up-to-date and meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • Actively seek ways to streamline business processes; research and provide information on industry category trends and best practices. Provide procurement input to maximize procurement leverage, optimize project design, and minimize project durations and cost.
  • Track compliance and support formal management reporting to the Head of Department and other senior management members.
  • Benchmark, track, and analyze annual performance metrics and sourcing trends against the budget monthly to demonstrate continuous improvement and progress against strategic objectives.
  • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across Business Units where applicable, by forming and leading/supporting cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories

What you'll bring

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement category management / sourcing as a Buyer or a Junior Procurement Specialist
  • Proven experience preferably in Australian Government procurement processes and compliance.
  • Proven track record of identifying cost reduction opportunities and driving significant, tangible financial benefit to the business
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in suppler performance management
