About the opportunity:

We are now looking for a Pre-Press Operator to join our business in Seaview, Wellington.  Reporting to the Pre-press Manager, you will be an integral member of the Pre-press team.

You play a crucial role in our business responsible for preparing and supplying Lithographic plates & digital files to the production team to set our printers up for success.

Our pre-press team ensure that everything is technically correct and ready for production before anything goes to press to deliver for our customers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Producing quality pre-press including digital image imposition, layout configuration, file merging and cropping, all the while considering production demands and machine constraints
  • Convert files into press-ready formats (i.e., PDF/X standards), Check for missing fonts, images, or errors in layout/design and apply imposition if req (arranging designs correctly for finishing).
  • Ensure accurate color reproduction (e.g., matching Pantone colors) and adjust colors for different types of paper or printing processes
  • Inspecting final products to ensure quality conformance, Catch and correct errors before printing begins and generate and review proofs (digital or hardcopy).
  • Provide technical guidance to customer service (for estimating and taking accurate customer information) and in conjunction with our printers and machine operators (to minimise quality defects)
  • Basic maintaining of the pre-press equipment
  • Order and replenish consumables uitilised in the pre-press process
  • Interact well and maintain a positive relationship with all production functions and customer service teams.
  • You will contribute to all steps in our production process and practices including, Quality, Safety, Good Manufacturing practice (GMP) housekeeping and Environmental control measures.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A minimum three years' experience working in a Label print or paper packaging environment (preferred in a pre-press role).
  • Experience using Esko technology will be advantageous
  • Competent in the Adobe creative suite
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational skills.
  • Be a team player that can communicate effectively across multiple work groups.
  • Able to work autonomously, manage priorities and are self-motivated.
  • To have high attention to detail and proud of your work standard – quality focus.
