About the role

As the Commercial Director, you are integral to the success of V/Line's Corporate Services Group.

You will lead the delivery of a refreshed commercial framework that supports future agreements and drives strategic reform across V/Line. This role is central to shaping commercial priorities, aligning contract management across workstreams, and influencing long-term planning.

You'll provide expert advice to the Executive Leadership Team, lead a high-performing team and foster a culture of excellence.

Key accountabilities include:

• Leading negotiations for strategic infrastructure and telecommunications agreements.
• Driving revenue growth across supplier management and operator engagement, including marketing and advertising streams.
• Finalising inter-operator transport agreements and deliver high-impact outcomes for Victorian communities.
• Building strong partnerships across government, industry, and community stakeholders.
• Ensuring governance, budget compliance, and workforce planning are aligned with strategic goals.
• Leading V/Line's new commercially focused ways of working.

About you

You're a strategic leader with a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record in negotiating and delivering complex projects. You are a polished communicator who is comfortable interfacing at an executive level.

• High-level stakeholder engagement and the ability to build trusted relationships across government, industry, and community.
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen to drive value and strategic outcomes.
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership capability, with a focus on mobilising and delivering with the broader team.
• Commitment to compliance and integrity, ensuring governance and risk are effectively managed.
• Clear and persuasive communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence at executive levels.
• Resilience and adaptive thinking, thriving in complex environments and championing innovation.
• Collaborative working style, fostering alignment across teams and stakeholders.
• A relevant degree qualification in commerce, finance, economics, business management or related commercial discipline is highly regarded.
