The Master Plumbers Association of South Australia Inc (MPA SA) has proudly represented excellence in the plumbing and gas fitting trades for over 100 years. With a membership of over 500 industry professionals, we offer support and resources to help our members uphold the highest standards of compliance and integrity.

As part of our commitment to the next generation of plumbing professionals, we operate a group training organisation that employs apprentices and places them with leading plumbing businesses for hands-on training. Our mission is to shape today's apprentices into the industry leaders of tomorrow.


The Role

We are looking for a Field Officer who is passionate about shaping the future of the plumbing industry. In this role, you will support high-caliber candidates entering the industry, guide apprentices through their training, and work closely with host employers and industry stakeholders to ensure a smooth apprenticeship journey.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating effectively with team members to foster positive working relationships.
  • Building strong connections to drive apprenticeship opportunities and candidate commencements.
  • Engaging with schools, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and host employers to promote apprenticeship growth.
  • Recruiting and selecting apprentice plumbers and host employers.
  • Providing ongoing mentorship and support to apprentices throughout their training.
  • Promoting a safe work environment and advising on risk management.
  • Overseeing the development and training progress of plumbing apprentices.
  • Attending career expos and events to promote the plumbing industry and attract future apprentices.

What We're Looking For

While plumbing qualifications are not required, they will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Solid knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices in the plumbing or construction industry.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • A background in business development and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • A genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for apprentices and host employers.
  • Empathetic and approachable traits with a knack for resolving practical issues.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and meet KPIs.
  • A current Working with Children check and National Police Check are required, as is a valid SA driver's license.

  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
