Support our Dementia Day Respite Program that empowers older adults living with dementia to create real community connection.

Are you a passionate program assistant who is dedicated in improving the lives of people living with dementia and their families? Do you enjoy supporting others and helping older adults stay active, independent, and socially connected?

We're looking for Program Assistants to join our dedicated team at BASScare's Dementia Services in Canterbury.

About the Role

In this dynamic hands-on role, you'll support the Program Leads in delivering quality care and support programs for our clients who are living with dementia. You'll play a key role in facilitating activities and events, working with volunteers to deliver vibrant, inclusive, and meaningful programs for older adults.

  • Contribute and deliver creative, engaging programs that bring people together, spark joy, and support the wellbeing of older adults.
  • Foster a warm and inclusive environment where clients feel welcomed, heard, and part of a vibrant community.
  • Assist clients with daily activities while encouraging their independence and enhances their dignity and right to make informed choices.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, carers, and community partners to grow engagement and strengthen connections.
  • Take care of the details behind the scenes – from administrative duties to facilitating the transportation for clients.

Hours of Work:

  • Permanent Part Time shifts available
  • Casual shifts available
  • Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm

About You

  • You're passionate about care and have a people-first mindset
  • You bring energy, empathy, and creativity to your work
  • You love working in a team to deliver great outcomes

Essential

  • Experience in aged care, community services, or a related setting especially working with clients/residents living with dementia
  • Certificate in Aged Care, Leisure & Lifestyle, or relevant qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver community programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
  • Police Check (current)

Desirable

  • Full Driver's Licence and ability to drive a 12-seater minibus
