Location: St Helena, Victoria

Commencement: Term 2, 2026 (or earlier)

Contract: Full-time, 5-year tenure

North-Eastern Montessori School (NEMS) is a vibrant, independent Montessori school located in St Helena, offering a quality education for children from 18 months through to Year 6, and extending to the Middle Years from 2026. Established in 1976, NEMS is proud of its rich heritage, inclusive community, and innovative Montessori program that nurtures the development of the whole child – intellectually, socially, emotionally and creatively.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the School Board, the Principal is the Chief Executive Officer of NEMS and provides strategic and educational leadership across all facets of the school's operations. This is an exceptional opportunity for a contemporary and values-driven educational leader to guide a well-established and growing school through its next phase of development – including the launch of the Middle Years program.

The Principal will:

  • Champion the Montessori philosophy, inspiring curiosity and a love of learning
  • Lead and empower a capable team of educators and staff
  • Drive enrolment growth and community engagement
  • Ensure operational excellence across finance, compliance, and governance
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement

About You

You are a dynamic and collaborative school leader with:

  • Proven experience in educational leadership and strategic planning
  • Strong understanding of governance, financial management and compliance
  • The ability to build and sustain a connected, inclusive and high-performing community
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A passion for, or willingness to develop deep understanding of, Montessori education

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education are required, with postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership or Business Administration highly regarded.
