The Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors (ASeTTS) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a wide range of services that rebuild the lives of people who have experienced torture and trauma, including refugees and people seeking asylum. Our clients are culturally and linguistically diverse with a broad range of experiences and needs.
We are looking for multiple facilitators who speak one or more of the following languages:
· Arabic
· Farsi
· Dari
· Tigrinya
· Spanish
The Role Description (for all languages)
These roles are being created for suitable candidates who can provide support to newly arrived, existing, and long-term clients. You will provide language support for a wide range of age groups, from young people to adults, as well as practical co-facilitating support through a series of planned group services provided by ASeTTS.
The roles will be set up on a casual contract basis and under Level 2 of the SCHADS Award. Bi-Cultural Facilitators will work within our Community Development and Children and Youth teams.
The roles may require weekend work.
The Role Requirements
Support to promote and facilitate ASeTTS services.
2. Mobilise individuals to participate in counselling, events, activities, and workshops run by ASeTTS.
3. Support the teams to plan and deliver age-appropriate events, activities, or workshops.
4. Assist people with language barriers to understand and engage in groups.
5. Support and monitor the progress of programs and provide feedback, including updating activity resources for relevancy.
6. Develop and maintain effective links with relevant communities and their leaders.
7. Provide mentorship and support to program participants to build their skills and abilities.
Essential Selection Criteria
Previous experience of working as a mental health support worker or currently studying a community services/mental health-related degree/diploma.
Have a sound understanding of the culture relating to the language(s) you speak.
Speak Englishand at least one of the required languages fluently.
Able to effectively co-facilitate events, workshops, and activities for groups.
Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
Australian citizenship, residency status, or a Visa allowing unrestricted access to work rights.
Strong networking skills with good connections in the relevant community and the ability to mobilise community participation.

· Well-developed verbal communication skills.
· Flexibility and the capacity to work under pressure.
· A high degree of organisation.
· A high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
· Solution-focused.
Desirable:
Current valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good working condition.
