Bruce Avery Transport is an Australian-owned family business specialising in linehaul freight from Perth to Darwin and servicing the regional areas. Our client list is large and includes major companies from all industries, including fellow transporters, mining, retail, construction, and agriculture.

We have built our reputation on our ability to deliver freight within schedule, and it is our team of employees that are the key to our success and growth.

We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team. This position will be based in our South Guildford depot.

The Role

  • Plan, organise, schedule, and manage operational activities on a day-to-day basis
  • Provide excellent problem-solving solutions to address issues as they arise to achieve the best possible outcomes for the Company and its clients
  • Lead, motivate and direct employees
  • Provide overall direction, support, coaching and exceptional leadership to the Operations team to achieve the Company's objectives
  • Achieve safe and cost-effective results through optimal yard planning and labour allocation
  • Create and foster a safe working environment by ensuring staff adhere to Company policies and procedures and comply with external rules and regulations that govern the transport industry
  • Lead the operations team in providing the highest level of customer service, both internally and externally, with the goal of continuously improving customer relations
  • Work closely with sub-contractors to ensure they operate and comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Share responsibility for the operations on-call phone on a fortnightly rotation, working in collaboration with another Operations Manager

What you need

  • Must have a sound knowledge of transport operations with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Road Transport regulations and statutes that affect the Road Transport Industry
  • Sound geographical knowledge of Western Australia and the Northern Territory
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Good level of computer competency in the MS Office suite and ability to learn in-house operating programs
