As a Senior Reinsurance Life & Disability Underwriter for the Australian and New Zealand markets, you will play a pivotal role in our organisation. Your expertise will be crucial in underwriting large and complex cases, ensuring that we manage risk effectively while maintaining our competitive edge. You will be a key player in shaping our underwriting guidelines and strategies, and your thought leadership will help us stay ahead in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite Large Complex Cases : Evaluate and underwrite high-value and intricate life and disability reinsurance cases with care and precision.
  • Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded through collaborative and caring interactions.
  • Client Training : Provide training and support to clients, enhancing their understanding of our underwriting processes and guidelines through collaborative efforts.
  • Research & Design Guidelines : Conduct thorough research to develop and refine underwriting guidelines and best practices, fostering an open-minded approach to innovation.
  • Risk Management : Implement and oversee risk management strategies with integrity, ensuring sustainable and profitable underwriting.
  • Industry Representation : Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums, showcasing our expertise and thought leadership with courage and integrity.
  • Thought Leadership : Contribute to industry publications, white papers, and other thought leadership initiatives, demonstrating our commitment to excellence.
  • Global Projects & Working Groups : Participate in global projects and working groups, collaborating with colleagues across the globe with an open-minded and courageous approach.
  • Underwriting Manual Management : Oversee the development and maintenance of the underwriting manual, ensuring it is up-to-date and comprehensive, reflecting our values of integrity and risk management.

Experience and competencies:

  • Extensive experience in life and disability reinsurance underwriting
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioristise and execute
  • Be able to work independently
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Development of underwriting guidelines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in risk management
  • Thought leadership and industry representation experience
    Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with local and global teams and projects

Education requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • ANZIIF, ACII, LOMA, CLU or other relevant professional qualifications
  • A commitment to ongoing continuous learning
