Board Director

Overview Skillset Senior College seeks applications from residents in Central Western NSW interested in becoming a member of our Board. Applicants from Dubbo are highly desirable. Directors are elected for a term of three years and can serve up to three consecutive terms. This role involves guiding strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and supporting the leadership team to achieve the college's mission. This role is a catalyst for change and a champion for students, staff and communities.
Director responsibilities include:
Attending quarterly Board Meetings held in Bathurst, NSW, with one meeting per year in Dubbo, NSW
Leading with passion and purpose, guiding strategic direction and ensuring alignment with the mission
Fostering a culture of kindness, courage and consideration
Supporting and mentoring the leadership team, providing wisdom to navigate challenges and seize opportunities
Ensuring legal compliance and achieving governance requirements
Acting as an ambassador for the organisation in the community and participating in relevant events
Transform lives: Be a pivotal part of enabling young people to achieve their "best future imaginable"
Collaborative and innovative environment: Work with a dedicated and supportive Board to enable innovation and excellence in education
Impact your community: Use your skills and experience on a Not-for-Profit Board to make a positive impact
Professional Growth: Work alongside a skills-based Board to broaden governance, strategic planning and leadership skills. Professional development is guaranteed, with a minimum of 12 hours required across a 3-year term
Legacy: Contribute to a legacy of excellence and innovation in education
About you The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, strong leadership skills, and a passion for education. Our Board aims to comprise individuals with a wide range of skills, experience and attributes necessary to govern effectively.
Applications are invited from individuals with skills and experience across one or more of the following areas:
Education Sector, especially independent schools
Accounting Practice
Legal
Ideally, candidates will also hold:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
AICD or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong understanding of governance and fiduciary responsibilities
Proven leadership experience, preferably within the education sector
Business acumen with exposure to compliance, governance and risk management
Experience in a not-for-profit environment (desirable)
We are particularly interested in applications from Central Western NSW, with applications from Dubbo highly desirable.
