Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. BQ monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks. Animal Biosecurity and Welfare supports BQ\'s efforts to prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department\'s strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.
As a Scientific Officer you will demonstrate technical emergency response capabilities enabling you to work in preparedness teams and on projects to help protect the Queensland biosecurity system. You will be responsible for independently undertaking clearly defined activities as part of a team to achieve effective and efficient delivery of the relevant preparedness plans. You will also provide information, advice and assistance to local stakeholders relating to biosecurity emergency responses.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate technical emergency response capabilities enabling you to work in preparedness teams and on projects to help protect the Queensland biosecurity system.
Independently undertake clearly defined activities as part of a team to achieve effective and efficient delivery of the relevant preparedness plans.
Provide information, advice and assistance to local stakeholders relating to biosecurity emergency responses.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
