Project Officer, Central Highlands Eden

The Central Highlands Eden project officer plays a key role in delivery of the Central Highlands Eden (CHE) strategic weed management project. CHE covers almost 400,000 hectares of public land, including Yarra Ranges and Baw Baw national parks, Bunyip and Moondarra state parks and all interconnecting state forest. The project officer, working with local land managers, will analyse the change in density and extent of high risk weed cover and prioritise future weed control works.
This role also provides support for the coordination of follow-up weed programs for pre
- and post-fuel treatments (burning or mechanical) across DEECA districts, in collaboration with Parks Victoria.
Applicants should have experience in the development and implementation of strategic weed management projects, as well as in their monitoring and evaluation. This position will suit someone with the desire to work in the field, who has an aptitude for weed identification and mapping (ArcGIS). A proactive individual with strong communications skills (both written and verbal) is sought.
**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- Desired: An appropriate qualification in science, natural resources management or approved equivalent
- Specialist skill: Knowledge of and experience in the identification of high threat weeds and use of geographic systems
**This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is**flexible in Port Phillip Region (Woori Yallock preferred),**with hybrid work arrangements available.**
