Backend Platform Lead

This role will have a lot of variety but will be primarily responsible for leadership in the delivery of our scalable Backend platform. The key areas of responsibility will be:

- Lead an experienced team of software engineers by providing leadership, guidance and enabling your team to shine and deliver to their full potential;
- Drive the execution and delivery for the Platform and Products by collaborating with other teams;
- Help to lead change in seeking out continuous improvements and champion the adoption of best practices;
- Accountable for maintaining a high standard of product quality and code health;
- Work with Engineering leaders to proactively manage projects and deliverables and provide communications and updates to ensure cross-functional alignment of upcoming changes;
- Provide leadership, mentorship, education to team members as well as others in current development best practices and approaches;
- Be hands-on to build the code frameworks, and perform refactoring and R&D;
- Continue recruiting and hiring to further build out the team to support continued growth.

- Strong interpersonal skills including a strong ability to communicate and influence effectively across the most senior levels of the organisation;
- Superior analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills with emphasis on developing quality technical specifications;
- Attention to detail and excellent reporting capabilities;
- Delivery technologies and CDNs and CI/CD pipelines;
- Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS);
- Good understanding of Agile methodologies;
- Knowledge of security driven development;
- Knowledge of testing frameworks and tools.

You will collaborate closely with the other Product and Engineering Leads and the broader team to deliver an exceptional, client focused and fit-for-purpose system. You will report to the CTO.

You’ll get a computer and peripherals, and we’ll expect you to be up and running in a couple of days, contributing to our production systems and changing transit forever.
